Planning a trip Dec 16-19 and trying to decide if it’s worth it to stay at palisades for 400-500 a night or Tahoe city for half that. I’m a good skier, but my friend is not and is going to take lessons, and probably cares more about the nightlife than the skiing. Never been so I don’t know how things compare at all.

Crystal mountain is a day ski area trying to be a “Resort”. Can’t speak to Crystal but Palisades has some excellent beginner/ beginner-intermediate terrain with great views. However, it can get a bit windy depending on the day.. Crystal is a ski area with pretensions to be a resort.Tahoe is risky in April, weather wise. In my experience late spring skiing is best in March. Don’t think I’ve ever gone there into April. Breck will be warm, too. A Basin may have the best snow at that point, but you will find yourself without anything to do at night.
